Sofia Richie Grainge announced the birth of her second baby, Henry Cecil Grainge, in her usual soft, minimal style. Then she posted his nursery on Instagram and took that minimalism even further. The crib is… invisible?
It’s a fully transparent acrylic crib that barely reads as a crib. It looks more like one of those acrylic waterfall tables from first apartments in the 2010s than something you’d put a newborn in. After some quick Google sleuthing, I found it: The Nursery Works Vetro crib. It costs $9,000. For a clear crib.
It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It disappears. The room feels even more pared back and tonal because of it. No visual weight, no contrast, nothing breaking up the palette. It’s very Sofia. It’s also not something I’ve ever seen in an actual nursery before.
It does raise a few questions: Is this an optical illusion hazard during middle-of-the-night feeds? Will you forget it’s there and walk into it? Are the edges as sharp as they appear? Sofia, if you’re reading, I need answers.
Once you get past the crib, the rest of the setup is surprisingly normal, almost intentionally so: a Nanit camera on a stand (I have the same one), an Ubbi diaper pail off to the side, and a Keekaroo Peanut changing pad on the dresser, which earns its spot quickly. No covers, nothing to wash, just wipe it down and move on.
There’s also the new Hatch Baby lamp in a neutral colorway that blends in but still does the job at night. The acrylic wall shelving is stocked with familiar titles like 'Giraffes Can’t Dance' and looks nearly identical to versions you can find on Amazon for a tiny fraction of the price of that crib.
Even the smaller pieces feel grounded. The round side table looks like something you could pick up from World Market for around $100 (either a dupe or the exact one), and there’s that Gathre baby activity gym set up in the corner that keeps targeting me on Instagram.
Celebrities, they’re just like us… with a $9,000 invisible crib.
