This week I suddenly started feeling a call for black and white art. The urge to create it was so strong that I had to pick up my iPad and get going. A new brush showed up from OMG water colors (https://www.sketchwerx.com/#/) for Procreate and suddenly I was off. I love that feeling of the art unfolding as the strokes are made. There is no forethought, rather it is a visceral unfolding where I am delighted by each stroke. The images start to emerge and the strokes and colors are called forth onto the page. It’s impossible to describe the deep joy that I feel as the art comes. It’s like a part of me is curious to see what each stroke will bring and thrilled to the core as they show up. Sometimes I feel the call to deepen the image in a particular place. I sit quietly and wait for the push of the pen, basically I am the instrument. While other times the pen is flying and in the end, the art IS.
I’ve always been strongly attracted to color both in my photography and in my art, so this black and white art is new to me. Even so, I feel that the pieces are worth sharing here and now.
